"Let's Talk About Sex, Baby" with Kimberly Johnson

Season 2, Episode 6

Episode6-sex [DISPLAY_ULTIMATE_PLUS] Before we get started I need to mention a couple things: First, the content of this show may not be suitable for young kids. There's no profanity but the topic may not be something you want to expose your kids to. Just a warning. Second, we had a decent amount of technical issues with this show and unfortunately because of that I had to use a phone recorder. About 20 min into this episode the sound quality changes, my apologies in advance. And also because of this I kept the show concise but there is so much I wish I could share and explore with you. Perhaps another time… Now on we go! One of my goals for the #mumboss podcast is to bring up topics that we don't typically share in public but are so vital to our well being. This particular episode feels like the crux of that. There is so much tension around sex as it is - throw a baby or more into the mix and it feels like the sensual side of our world can crumble down pretty quickly. The ripple effect is felt in our marriages, through guilt, shame and frustration. But what if there was another way? Are you with me? If so, tune in for the next 25 min to Kimberly Johnson and myself take an honest approach to this loaded topic. Kimberly Ann Johnson is a birth doula, Certified Sexological Bodyworker and near-certified Somatic Experiencing practitioner. A lifelong yoga student, yoga teacher, and bodyworker she leads workshops throughout Thailand, Malaysia, Brazil, Portugal and the US on the intersection of women's sexuality and spirituality. After living in Brazil for eight years, she now resides in San Diego, CA, where she has a private practice specializing in birth injury, birth trauma, and sexual healing. Her first book The Fourth Trimester: A New Mother's Guide to Healing Your Body, Nourishing Your Emotions, and Restoring Your Vitality will be published by Shambhala Publications in Spring 2017. I have been practicing some of the tips Kimberly shared and it’s already starting to make a difference in how I approach this very heated, pun intended, topic. Now go have fun!
